Coach Becker's golf team brings home the University School championship; soccer drops a 2-1 decision to St. John's Jesuit

Congratulations from the corner go out to Coach Brian Becker '77 and the Saint Ignatius varsity golf team for an outstanding performance during Saturday's prestigious 18-team University School Tournament at Windmill Lakes Golf Club, home of the nationally ranked Kent State University golf team.

Led by senior Jack Coyne, the tournament's overall winner with a superb one under par 69, the Wildcats shot 296 en route to the tournament team championship. St. Edward was second with a 306, Erie Cathedral Prep was third at 308 and rounding out the top seven were Walsh Jesuit (309), Columbus Academy (311), Cincinnati St. Xavier ( 312) and Hudson (314).

Here are Saint Ignatius' individual scores.

Jack Coyne 69 1st place

Kevin Duncan 74 4th place

PJ Malik 76 10th place

Harrision Vonderau 77 15 place

Michael Vallee 77 15 place

Michael Maroon 83 28th place

As per the Wildcats' varsity soccer page, Saint Ignatius was defeated by Toledo St. John's Jesuit, 2-1, in Saturday's annual Ohio Jesuit Cup Tournament at Cincinnati St. Xavier. The Wildcats are scheduled to play Walsh Jesuit on Sunday at 11 AM at St. X.
