Coach Mike McLaughlin's varsity soccer team, seeded No.1 in the district (see the corner's post from Sunday), is tied with Cincinnati Turpin for the ninth spot in this week's Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association Division I state poll.

Although the official OHSAA computer ratings won't be released until Tuesday afternoon, computer playoff guru Joe Eitel sees Coach Chuck Kyle's football Wildcats as 10th this week in Region 1. Hudson and St. Edward are 1-2, respectively, in the Eitel Region 1 ratings.

Just a reminder again that under the new two-region OHSAA playoff system in Division I, the top 16 teams in each region at the end of the regular season qualify for the playoffs. The first round will be a 1 vs. 16, 2 vs. 15, etc., format.

Tuesday night, the corner will provide an in-depth preview on this week's varsity football match up between the Wildcats and the David Sills V-led Eastern Christian Academy Honey Badgers, who are based out of Maryland. Saturday's kickoff is scheduled for 2 PM from Byers Field in Parma's Robert M. Boulton Stadium.
