Coach Pat O'Rourke's varsity ice hockey team improved its record to 1-0-1 on the young season by shutting down the Bethel Park (PA) Blackhawks, 5-0, during Friday's opening round of the annual Walsh Jesuit Thanksgiving Invitational Tournament at Kent State University.

Sophomore goalie Dylan McKeon came up with 14 saves en route to the shutout.

Junior right wing Matty Geither had two goals and junior Assistant Captain Jack Wiegandt, junior left wing Ethan Whitney and senior forward Brian Fitzgerald each had one lamplighter.

Sophomore center Aidan Spellacy had a "playmaker," i.e. 3 assists in the game.

The Wildcats play another Pennsylvania team, the Serra Catholic Eagles from McKeesport, in a second-round match up at 9:45 on Saturday morning.

The corner will be previewing the Wildcats' 2013-14 wrestling season next week.
