Ohio City - Former Saint Ignatius three-sport standout Bryan Fisher '13 is the recipient of the 2012-13 John J. Wirtz Athlete of the Year Award.

A mainstay as a hard-nosed and active safety in football, a talented and tireless guard in basketball and one of the linchpins for Coach Pat McManamon's highly successful lacrosse program, "Fish" will be receiving the Wirtz Award on December 28 during halftime of the Saint Ignatius versus Warren G. Harding varsity basketball game in Sullivan Gymnasium.

The Wirtz Award, named in honor of the late and legendary Saint Ignatius coach and athletic director, is presented to a young man "who has done the most for Saint Ignatius sports ... whose name is synonymous with skill and good sportsmanship."

Congratulations to Bryan and his family, and a big congrats from this corner, who was privileged to cover and report on many of Bryan's accomplishments.
