Ice Cats battle Shattuck St. Mary through overtime, before losing on a shootout

THE WILDCATS GO 3-1 IN THE TALENT-RICH CULVER (IND) TOURNAMENT.

FROM COACH O'ROURKE: "We played Shattuck St. Mary to a tie game for 56 minutes, 51 minutes of regulation and 5 minutes of overtime. It was 1-1, then we lost on the shootout.

"It was tied 0-0 after the first period, then they scored early in the second period," Coach O'Rourke continued. "Brian Fitzgerald scored off a pass from Kevin Yarcusko to tie the score late in the second period. The shot totals for the game were Saint Ignatius 32, Shattuck 29. Wes Deacon had 28 saves between the pipes.

"It was a Great effort by our boys, I am very proud of them," emphasized Coach O'Rourke.

NOTE: Shattuck St. Mary is a nationally recognized program from Minnesota. Pittsburgh Penguins perennial All-Star Sidney Crosby played on the Prep level for Shattuck St. Mary.
