Saint Ignatius, coming off victories over Shaker Heights and Upper Arlington during Saturday's second round, got some sweet revenge on Sunday, as the Ice Cats defeated Olentangy Orange, 3-1, in the final round of the St. Edward Eagle Classic in Serpentini Arena at Winterhurst.

The Pioneers of Olentangy Orange defeated Saint Ignatius, 2-1, in Friday night's opening round at Winterhurst.

Sophomore keeper Wes Deacon was on top of his game Sunday, turning away 24 of the Pioneers' 25 shots.

Senior captain and forward Beck Schultz, one of the most underrated players in the area, staked the Ice Cats to a 1-0 lead in the first period. Five minutes later, Olentangy Orange tied the score. The Pioneers hail from Lewis Center, Ohio in Delaware County.

Gifted junior forward Matty Geither fired home a shot that gave Coach O'Rourke's team a 2-1 lead in the second period and selfless senior captain Harry Smith, one of the area's top defenseman, provided the insurance in the third period.

Congratulations to Coach O'Rourke's resilient Ice Cats, whose mental toughness came to the fore after Friday's setback.
