FROM GABE OHLIGER ON THIS PAST SATURDAY'S SIM EARICH INVITATIONAL AT THE TRUMBULL COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS: Cloudy skies. Cold temperatures. The leaves are changing. These descriptions only mean one thing and that is that fall is around the corner! This was the last race of the year for the boys at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds. The racetime temperature was 40 degrees, but that doesn't rattle a St. Ignatius cross-country runner.

Unlike last year, the race started smoothly with the main official actually firing his gun. After the first mile, the top 6 for Ignatius (Timothy Trentel, William McGuire, Collin Kelly, Connor Reilly, Patrick McGuire, Patrick Nolan) started to make a nice pack of Cats and made tracks.

Near the end of the race, Tim, Liam, and Connor broke away from the group and decided to throw it all in. After a hard kick, Liam McGuire and Connor Reilly finished in tandem with a 16:41. Tim Trentel finished right behind them with a 16:42. After that group, a litter of Cats came in starting with Patrick McGuire, 16:56, Collin Kelly, 17:06, Pat Nolan, 17:17, Logan Kijewski 17:34, Matt Blouch, 17:42, and Brett Saunders 17:46, and Andrew Biehl, 17:50. John Heisterkamp and Mark McHugh finished out their Saint Ignatius careers with a 17:56 and 17:57. I believe we won the race. :) BDC (Be District Champs).

FROM NICK SNIDER ON SATURDAY'S OPEN RACE: The temperatures stayed chilly and the winds stayed strong for the much anticipated Open Race.

As the gun went off, the Cats took off fast. Freshman Ben Crane and Andrew Ulrich found their way to front of the pack at the mile. Finishing 4th overall, Ulrich lead the Cats to a first place team finish with a PR of 18:30. Freshman Ben Crane followed and finished 6th overall with a PR of 18:33. Will Ducher (18:40 PR), Dillon Bangasser (18:40), Tommy Rochester (18:49 PR), Michael Kilbane (19:00), and Trey Burke (19:02 PR) rounded out the scoring for the Cats.
