Saint Ignatius' Swimmers finish seventh overall at the OHSAA State Meet in Canton, Ohio's C.T. Branin Natatorium. St. Xavier totals an all-time best 398 points in bringing home its 8th consecutive state swimming title and 37th overall.

Saint Ignatius Head Coach Mike Lehto will be sending the corner his officials numbers on Sunday, but according to the OHSAA the highlights for the Wildcats during Saturday evening's finals were fourth-place finishes in both the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:24.84) and the 400 yard freestyle relay (3:07.33). A tip of the cap to the team of Dimitri Simcox, Marcus Hong, Cian O'Haimhirgin and Rayon Artis.

Dimitri Simcox put together a sixth-place effort in the 100 freestyle (46.12), Rayon Artis was eighth in the 50-yard free style (21.25) and Marcus Hong was eighth in the 100 yard butterfly (50.29).

Again, corner will post the official numbers from Coach Lehto on Sunday.

In what they are referring to in the Queen City as a foregone conclusion, our Jesuit Brothers from St. Xavier swam their way to their eighth consecutive state championship and their 37th, yes 37th, overall. The 398 points the Bombers racked up this weekend are the most in the history of Ohio high school swimming.

Congratulations to St. Xavier from this old-timer, whose been around long enough to appreciate how impressive those numbers are.
