SAINT IGNATIUS' OUTSTANDING JUNIOR WRESTLER KADEN RUSSELL DEFEATS ERIC DELUSE OF LANCASTER, 4-3, AND BRINGS HOME THE 182-POUND STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TO CLEVELAND'S JESUIT PREPARATORY SCHOOL

Kaden becomes the Wildcats' first state wrestling champion since the great George DiCamillo went back to back in 2011 and 2012. George is currently a standout for the Virginia Cavaliers.

In making his first state finals appearance after winning titles at both the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Sectional and the tradition-rich Mentor District, Kaden handled the big-stage pressure that went hand in hand with what was the 79th Annual OHSAA State Wrestling Individual Tournament at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.

Completing his OHSAA postseason competition (Sectional District and State) unbeaten, Kaden, 38-5 overall this winter, turned away a talented and savvy wrestler in Saturday night's 4-3 championship-match victory, Eric Deluse from Lancaster.

Deluse ended his season at 50-2.

Kaden advanced to the title match by defeating St. Edward's Tyler Stepic, 18-13, on Friday night and Deluse earned the right to face Kaden for Ohio's 182 crown by defeating Jacob Bria of Fairfield, 2-1, in Friday night's other semifinal.

A huge congratulations goes out to Kaden, his family, Head Coach Mark Sullivan, Assistant Head Coach Jonathan Polick and the entire Saint Ignatius Wrestling Program.
