CLEVELAND, OH - In a tremendous display of skill, the Swimming and Diving team celebrated a victory on Senior Day as they surpassed their formidable opponents from St. Edward. It was a record-setting and memorable win highlighted by senior Josh Toothman, who broke the program record in the 200-yard Freestyle. It was a fitting tribute to the seniors who have left an indelible mark on the team and paved the way for a promising state run with the Sectional Meet up next.
The following seniors were celebrated before the event: Isaac Chernisky, Anthony McIntyre, Maksym Mudryy, Luke Murtha, Maxwell Santoro, Tyler Williams and Josh Toothman. Toothman will continue his academic and swim career at Cornell University.
The Wildcats would place first in multiple events on Saturday, but it was the 200-yard Freestyle that was the highlight of the day for the Wildcats as Toothman broke a two-year-old record that Brendan Kiskorna '22 set with a time of 1:40.39 in the 2021-22 season. Toothman shattered that time with a 1:39.97.
The Wildcats JV squad will compete at the JV Championship at Canton McKinley High School this Saturday at 9 a.m. The varsity will be back in action for the Sectional Meet on February 10 at Cleveland State University.
