The Aqua Cats Take Second at the National Catholic Championships

The Swimming and Diving Cats earned their highest finish at the National Catholic Championships in Baltimore.

BALTIMORE, MD - The Swimming and Diving Cats soared this weekend as they clinched a remarkable second-place finish at the National Catholic Championships in Baltimore, Maryland, marking a historic milestone for the program's highest finish in program history at Loyola University.

The Aqua Cats got contributions from all around for the two-day competition. Senior Joshua Toothman earned the Most Outstanding Swimmer award for the meet. Toothman and Jude Banks captured first place in the 50-yard Free and 100-yard Breaststroke, respectively, with times of 20.46 and 57.32. 

The effort from the relay teams for the Wildcats was tremendous, starting with the 200-yard Medley of Hong, Banks, Fitzgerald, and Toothman claiming first place with a time of 1:32.72. 

The 400-yard Free Relay team of Toothman, Santoro, Hong, and Williams won with a time of 3:06.02.  

The full event recap can be found below as the Wildcats prepare for their final stretch of meets before the Sectional Meet begins on February 10. The Cats will compete against St. Charles Prep, Gilmour Academy meet and St. Edward.
