On Thursday evening, the JV A Soccer Wildcats team defeated the Copley Indians by a score of 3-0.

The Wildcats came out eager to play, and it showed in the game. The first half was slow, but mostly dominated by the Wildcats. The ball stayed mostly in the Indians’ side of the field, however the Cats couldn’t seem to capitalize off of their opportunities.

Then, with 1:07 remaining in the first half, Carter Snyder scored an unassisted left-footed goal off a fast break.

At the half, Coach Jim Brennan ‘85 talked about capitalizing on opportunities and not allowing Copley to get back into the game. He also said that it was an overall, solid half.

The second half started out with a bang. At 31:32 left in the second half, less than nine minutes in, Will Armsworthy scored off a nice assist from John Corrigan.

Twelve minutes later, with 19:08 remaining in the game, Xavier Munro scored opportunistically on a rebound off of the top of the crossbar, setting the score at 3-0 Saint Ignatius.

With 11:27 left in the game, goalkeeper Cole Strand made an athletic save off a fast break to preserve the shutout. The Cats played keep-away for the rest of the game. It was a well-executed game by the Wildcats.

The JV A Cats advance to 2-0 in the season, with their second straight shutout.

The Wildcats will play their next game on Monday, September 14 at 5 pm against Avon Lake.
