Malicki claimed medalist honors on Sunday.

The 2009 Wildcats are beginning to sweat.

With each passing week, the 2009 record of 11 tournament wins begins to look increasingly precarious.

The 2020 Wildcats chipped another win on Sunday, claiming the NDCL Lion Classic championship. The Saint Ignatius Varsity Blue squad now has seven tournament wins out of eight opportunities.

Connor Malicki paved the way for another stunning team score of 288. The sophomore glided through Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin's home invitational, earning a 33 on the front nine and a 35 on the back nine. His excellent three-under-par day of 68 earned him medalist honors.

Nick Longano conquered the course at Quail Hollow Country Club with a tally of 72, tying for sixth place. The senior hit a 37 on the front nine before matching Malicki's back nine 35. Longano is coming alive at the right time, and will be dangerous down the stretch.

Topher Reed continued his stretch of great golf, marking down a 73 at day's end for the Wildcats. The junior extraordinaire tied for eighth on the day, keeping the Wildcats steady.

Bradley Chill, Jr. completed the Varsity Blue scorecard, tallying a 75 on a picture-perfect day in Painesville. The freshman was even-keeled all afternoon, hitting a 37 on the front nine and a 38 on the back nine.

Sean Hoagland also competed on Sunday. The junior tallied a 79 on the afternoon, which did not count towards the Cats' score.

The Varsity Gold team also turned in a nice performance. Tom Beach's team carded a 311 as a team, finishing fifth place, besting many other varsity teams from the area.

Andrew Martin anchored the Gold lads with a 76. Martin hit a 38 on both the front nine and the back nine. Julian Dugan and John Thompson penciled in identical scores of 78 on the day. Liam Doyle framed a 79 for the day, and Michael O'Leary rounded things out for Beach's boys with an 85.

Meanwhile, late last week, the JV Cats defeated Walsh Jesuit, 171-185 in a 9-hole round on Sleepy Hollow. Michael Van Etten led the way for Tom Bogen's squad with a 35. Ethan Hughes followed with a 42. Domenic Pilla penned a 45 and Charlie Medvin rounded out the Cats with a 47.
