The schedule is subject to change, but as it stands, the Cats will have five home games.

As the season inches closer for the Saint Ignatius Soccer program, the schedule is beginning to shape up.

As it stands today, the Wildcats have 12 games on the schedule, including five contests on Wasmer Field.

Soccer season is almost here.

When reading this, please keep in mind when reading this that anything can change. This is 2020, after all. The schedule at this link will be kept up to date as changes occur.

With that in mind, the Wildcats start practicing on Saturday, and plan to open the season on Friday, September 4 vs. Massillon Jackson at 7 pm. Wasmer Field has not hosted a home game since March 8, eons ago it seems. The Wildcats and Polar Bears last met on November 1, 2017, a 3-1 win in the Regional Final for the Wildcats.

Copley will visit Wasmer on Thursday, September 10 at 7 pm. The two schools faced off in 2019, a 6-1 win for the Wildcats. Avon Lake also returns to the schedule on Monday, September 14 on Wasmer Field at 7 pm. Last season, the Wildcats opened the year against the Shoremen with a 2-1 victory.

The first road game of the year will be a short journey. St. Edward will host the Wildcats on Wednesday, September 16 at 8 pm. The rivalry game always brings excitement. Over the four seasons, the Wildcats are 6-0 with a 27-4 goal margin. A second road matchup looms on Friday, September 18 at Toledo Saint John's Jesuit, at Force Sports Park in Sandusky at 5:30 pm.

The Soccer Cats return to the friendly confines of Wasmer Field to face University School on Tuesday, September 22 at 7 pm. On the road last season, the Wildcats earned a decisive 9-1 victory over the Preppers.

An all-Jesuit matchup between Saint Ignatius and Walsh Jesuit is set for Thursday, September 24 at 7 pm. The Warriors will play the host for the first matchup between the two teams since 2018, a 3-1 win for the Cats.

Toledo St. Francis will visit Cleveland on Saturday, September 26 at 3 pm. The Wildcats eked by the Knights, 1-0, in Toledo in 2019. And speaking of out-of-town foes, the Wildcats will play another familiar one on Saturday, October 3: St. Xavier. The two teams will meet at a location to be determined in Columbus.

The season will end with back-to-back-to-back road contests. The stretch begins on Wednesday, October 7 at Strongsville at 7 pm. The Wildcats have not played the Mustangs in some time, but positive memories still remain from the last time the Cats played in Strongsville – the unforgettable 3-2 win over Medina in the 2016 State Semifinal.

Mentor returns to the schedule on Wednesday, October 14 at 7 pm. The Cardinals and Cats have not met on the pitch for a bit. A few days later, the regular season will conclude in Columbus, as the Wildcats will do battle with Dublin Jerome on Saturday, October 17 ay 3 pm. The two schools last met on Saturday, September 30, 2017, a 2-2 draw in Columbus.

The Wildcats are looking to add games to the schedule as we speak. If your team is interested in playing the Cats, please reach out to Head Coach Mike McLaughlin '85 at mmclaughlin@ignatius.edu
