Five Wildcats Named OSU Scholar-Athletes; Adam Shibley '17 an Award Finalist at UM

Adam Shibley '17 and Tommy Eichenberg '19 thrived in the classroom.

Even in the midst of a pandemic, Saint Ignatius alumni continue to thrive academically.

This week, five Wildcat alumni were named Scholar-Athletes at The Ohio State University and Adam Shibley was named a finalist for an award at the University of Michigan.

Excellence is a habit, they say. Adam Shibley '17 proves that point, as he earned yet another distinction at the University of Michigan on Tuesday.

Shibley was named a finalist for the Rachael Townsend Leadership Award by the Michigan Athletics Leadership Development and Community Engagement team. The award recognizes a student-athlete who has "led others in existing initiatives or developed a program to completion." With his creation and leadership of The Uniform Funding Foundation (TUFF), which supplies uniforms and equipment to athletic programs in need, Shibley certainly qualifies.

As per usual, Kevin Woidke '15 led the way for the Buckeyes in the Scholar-Athlete category. The Real Estate & Urban Analysis grad once again earned the distinction, becoming one of just eight Buckeyes this year to tally five Scholar-Athlete awards.

Jack Jamieson '18 joined his fellow Wildcat lineman on the list. Jamieson, a Management & Industry Exploration, just completed his sophomore year. This is his second time scoring a spot on the list.

Tommy Eichenberg '19 made the cut for the first time as a freshman. Eichenberg just wrapped up his first year as a Buckeye, declaring as a business major. He'll threaten for some playing time next season, too.

Anthony Ameo '18 also secured Scholar-Athlete status for the first time. The former Saint Ignatius lacrosse standout is majoring in marketing. Ameo lost out on his sophomore season, but you can bet that he'll be back with a vengeance next spring.

Tommy Marusic '19 made the list, as well. Marusic is majoring in business, having just completed his freshman year. Marusic didn't play soccer for the Wildcats, but did excel as a student at Saint Ignatius. He'll do well on the pitch for the Buckeyes in the fall, and Peter Van Euwen '20 will be joining him, too.

Congrats to all the Buckeyes and

If you or an Ignatius alumnus you know earned a Scholar-Athlete award, let us know! Email
