The Saint Ignatius varsity track and field program will be well-represented at the final indoor event of the season.

The Wildcats will send seven men to the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (OATCCC) Division I Indoor State Track & Field Championships.

The indoor state meet will take place on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva.

The men of Coach Chuck Kyle '69 will look to make plenty of noise, as the Wildcats will compete in four events.

The day begins the pole vault for the Wildcats at 9:30 a.m. Dan Drellishak, coached by veteran Joe Zebrak '87, will rep the Cats in the event. Drellishak enters with a seed mark of 13-06.00.

The Wildcats' first race will be the 4x800 relay. The event will take place at 10 a.m., though the Wildcats are in the second heat. Cross country fans might recognize the four Saint Ignatius men – Andrew Biehl, Steve Zucca, Matt Blouch, and Nathan Soria. The quartet enters with a time of 8:14.35, sixth-best across 24 relay squads.

John Wetula will run in the second heat of the 60-meter hurdles. The senior carries in a seed time of 8.47, entering 17th out of 27 runners. Wetula will look to rise to the top of the crop and earn one of 10 spots in the finals. The prelims will race at about 11 a.m.

The Wildcats' final race will be at noon. Nick Saul will rep the Wildcats in the 1600m run. The senior qualified with a mark of 4:22.03, placing him fifth out of 24 qualifiers to start.

Best of luck to all 7 Wildcats this weekend!
