Every December, the Saint Ignatius swimming & diving community gathers to host one of the best meets in Northeast Ohio.

The Wildcats will host the annual Viking Swimming & Diving Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Cleveland State University, in an action-packed weekend of diving and swimming.

This year's edition promises to be especially exciting. As of early this week, about 50 divers were slated to compete on Friday and  970 swimmers scheduled to race on Saturday. The high numbers speak to the sheer size of the event.

Each year, plenty parents and fans, along with numerous college coaches, swarm the Busby Natatorium for a great weekend. This year will be no different.

As a team, the Wildcats enter with plenty of momentum. The squad toppled Toledo powerhouse St. Francis for the first time in 22 years last Friday in a 159-155 upset. The Wildcats followed it up by winning the Comet Relays in Solon the next day. This young Wildcats team has plenty of promising potential for greatness.

Fans can follow the meet results live online at the following link: https://www.swimmeet.com/viking18/

Saint Ignatius results will also be posted on Twitter at @SIHSSports and @stiggyswim

Good luck to all of the competitors, and Go Cats!

Tyler Hong update: The Wildcats' star swimmer took part in the 200 IM at the USA Swimming's 2018 Speedo Winter Junior Championships on Thursday.

Unfortunately, Tyler did not qualify for finals, finishing 40th out of 169 swimmers. Even still, Tyler was the second fastest 15-year old in the event.

Tomorrow, Tyler will swim in the 400 IM and 100 back. Live results are available here:
