Two days after enjoying wonderful Thanksgiving feasts, the Saint Ignatius bowling squads experienced a sluggish day on the lanes.

The Alley Cats scuffled in a loss to St. Edward on Saturday, losing two of three scratch games and both baker games.

The day started off well for the blue and gold. The Wildcats captured a 914-867 victory in the first game of the day. Ryan Wallenhorst wowed many with a game-high 181, a big breakthrough effort for the sophomore. Alex Madeja also chipped in a clutch 174 effort and Vinny Doran tallied a 161.

The momentum did not carry over into the second game. Madeja kept rolling with a 165, but the rest of the scores sat below 140, dooming the Wildcats to a 1,025-785 loss. The Eagles' pinfall of 1,025 marked the second-best single-game performance by a GCIBL team this season.

The third and deciding game went to the Eagles, 867-769. Doran rebounded with a nice 190 to lead the Wildcats. The Gehrlein brothers also did well, with Alex notching a 158 and Ben clinching a 172. But the scores did not add up to enough to defeat the Eagles in the final scratch contest.

The Wildcats battled in the first baker game just as hard, but experienced defeat, 157-132. The same occurred in the second contest, 187-139. The Eagles won the overall baker pinfall, 344-271.

At the end of the day, St. Edward enjoyed a 2,759-2,468 advantage in overall pinfall, granting the Lakewood squad the OHSAA point.

With the loss, the Wildcats dropped to 1-1 overall on the season.

Next up for the Wildcats is a matchup with Lakewood on Saturday at Buckeye Lanes. The Alley Cats will then host the 2nd Annual Wildcat Tournament at Rollhouse Parma on Sunday.
