A critical member of the Saint Ignatius defense is this week's Student-Athlete of the Week.

The key playmaker anchored a strong Wildcats' defensive line that shut down a prolific Moeller offense and ensured a win on Saturday.

That Wildcat is Anthony Gerace.

The 6'2, 240-pound defensive end, along with the rest of the D-line, wreaked havoc for the blue and gold vs. Moeller. The Wildcats held the Crusaders to just 48 rushing yards, an average of 1.3 yards per carry. As a team, Moeller managed just 97 yards of total offense.

Gerace did plenty of damage to the Moeller cause. The junior tallied 7.5 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss for 11 yards, a fumble recovery, and one pass breakup. Gerace and the Saint Ignatius defense dominated the line of scrimmage to help the Wildcats advance to 6-2 on the year.

Gerace is a great student in the classroom, too, sporting a 3.94 GPA.

The junior will hope to lead the Wildcats again on Saturday. The team will travel down to Cincinnati to face the St. Xavier Bombers in the annual Jesuit showdown.

Congratulations to Anthony on earning this week's student-athlete of the week award!
