This week's honoree for the Student-Athlete of the Week enjoyed a memorable game last Friday in Columbus. He played a critical role in the Saint Ignatius football team's dominant 35-0 victory over COF Academy.
Patrick Delahunty is the Student-Athlete of the Week.
The senior, the starting quarterback for the Football Cats, starred in a memorable way last Friday. Delahunty completed 6-of-8 passes for 212 yards, throwing four touchdown passes. Delahunty found four different receivers for scores – Connor Cmiel on an 86-yard bomb, Nate Conry on a 58-yard flag route, Jake Lang on an 11-yard playaction pass, and Jack Kennedy on a 15-yard strike, the first of the senior wideout's career.
Delahunty has helped the Wildcats win two straight contests. On the year, the 6'0, 195-pound signalcaller has 555 yards and 6 touchdowns through the air. Delahunty is averaging a passing touchdown about every four completions.
The senior is also a solid student, with a 3.1 cumulative GPA. Delahunty also volunteers time to service each semester through various programs.
Delahunty and the Wildcats return to action on Saturday, hosting the Elder Panthers at Byers Field at 3 p.m.
