Kyle Healy tallied two goals in the victory.

The Saint Ignatius varsity soccer team defeated the Copley Indians on Saturday afternoon, 9-2. The Cats advance to 7-0-1 – still undefeated.

The Wildcats' offense was outstanding. Many goals were easily put in the back of the net.

The victory was a statement win for the Soccer Cats.

"Copley had close games against Medina and Dublin Coffman, some top teams in the state," said Head Soccer Coach Mike McLaughlin '85. "So to come in and score a bunch of goals on them, it says a few things: We're starting to click and score goals, and it shows what we're capable of doing against top teams."

Austin Zeleznik tallied his 3rd goal of the season, Henry Curtis had a beautiful goal from the right side of the field even though he had a bad angle, Kyle Folds score another beautiful goal, and Kyle Healy tallied two more goals in the win. Many other Cats contributed to the 9-2 victory.

"I'm happy when any goal happens. Ultimately, when you play against better teams, you have to find ways to break teams down with 3-4 passes," said McLaughlin. "My favorite goals today were ones when we combined with 3-4 guys and put it in the back of the net. Everyone wants to score heroic goals, but team goals are the goals I like the most."

Even though Copley scored 2 goals, the defense shook it off and still played tenaciously. The back line was led by Daniel Kalic who played exceptionally well.

"Every game, we take positive steps forward. This game was another step towards Columbus," McLaughlin said.

The Wildcats play Lake Catholic this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Wasmer Field.

The JV Soccer Cats won, 6-1, and will play Wednesday at 5 p.m. on Wasmer Field.
