Following a dominant regular season, the Saint Ignatius prep lacrosse team is ready for the postseason.

First up is the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association (MSCLA) Midwest Tournament this weekend at Fortress Obetz in Columbus. The MSCLA has yet to release the bracket.

But the road to Lax Cats' No. 1 goal – an OHSAA State Championship – has been laid out by the OHSAA.

The playoff push begins on Tuesday, May 15. The Lax Cats will host the winner of the Eastlake North and Willoughby South at a time to be determined on Wasmer Field.

The Regional Quarterfinal awaits on Friday, May 18, as the Cats will host the winner of Green and Cleveland Heights. Should the Lax Cats win that one, the men of the blue and gold would host for a third and final time in the Regional Semifinal on Tuesday, May 22. North Canton Hoover, Stow-Munroe Falls, Shaker Heights, and Solon are possible foes in that contest.

The Regional Final will be played on May 25 at a time and place to be determined. The Region 2 champ will face the Region 1 winner (Dublin Coffman and Olentangy Liberty are the top seeds) on May 30 for the right to advance to the State Championship.

The winner of Region 3 vs. Region 4 will face the victor of the Region 1 vs. Region 2 matchup. The only three Ohio teams to beat the Cats this season – St. Xavier, Archbishop Moeller, Upper Arlington – reside in Regions 3 and 4.

The SIBN will have coverage of all home playoff games. The SIBN will also tentatively all road contests, as long as press box availability allows.
