Be it singles or doubles, the Saint Ignatius varsity tennis team is absolutely on fire right now.

The Tennis Cats swept by the competition at the Medina Doubles Tournament on Saturday, winning all four flights to capture the tournament title.

The championship is just another feather in the cap of Head Coach Bobbe Bennett and the 11-1 Wildcats.

In the top doubles flight, Coach Bennett placed Arjun Brahmbhatt and Brian Zhu together. The sophomore and senior typically occupy the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots for the Cats, but did not look out of place in doubles competition. Brahmbhatt and Zhu defeated teams from Strongsville and Ashland to roll into the finals against top-seeded Revere. The Tennis Cats took down the Patriots in two sets, 6-0, 6-4, to start an avalanche of success for the Cats.

In the second doubles flight, Bennett paired Richie Hofstra and Nate Day. The two have been working together well in recent weeks, and looked great again today. Hofstra and Day pushed through Ashland and Revere into the finals against Copley. The Wildcats' duo won out in the final match to earn the crown.

In flight three, Bennett combined Jack McNally and Drew Barclay, who had not played together in doubles. The two cruised into the finals past Medina and Strongsville anyways. McNally and Barclay beat a talented duo from Copley to win the title in the flight, 6-3, 6-1.

The Wildcats rolled with Jack Showman and Thomas Deucher in the fourth flight. The familiar duo beat pairs from Highland and St. Edward to fight its way into the title bout. Dueling against a good team from Strongsville, Showman and Deucher clinched a victory with a 6-3 win.

Having secured the Medina Doubles Tourney, the Wildcats will return to action on Monday. The Tennis Cats have a stretch of road matchups on the slate, starting with a contest at Walsh Jesuit on Wednesday. A two-day trip to the New Albany Invite in Columbus also awaits the Cats next weekend.
