On a picturesque August day in Hudson, the Saint Ignatius varsity golf team tied for fifth at the Hudson Invitational.

Competing against some top teams from Northeast Ohio, the Wildcats compiled a team score of 317. The mark tied the squad with Medina Highland, and above Archbishop Hoban by one stroke.

Senior Michael McCaffrey continued to lead the charge for the blue and gold. The two-sport athlete penciled in a score of 73, good enough for third individually in the tournament.

Andrew Kaye recorded a solid tally of 78, not far behind McCaffrey but only enough to place him 22nd in a stacked field.

Jake Moraca and Nick Longano followed with scores of 83. Ryan Grabowski notched an 87.

The Wildcats also competed at the Tannehauf Invitational over the weekend. The Golf Cats stole the show, fighting through the rain for a team score of 296.

Kaye paced the squad with a 71. McCaffrey followed closely behind with a 72, with Nick Longano trailing him with a tally of 75.

Ross Williamson and Ryan Grabowski stayed in the 70's, with score of 78 and 79, respectively. Jake Moraca rounded out the squad with an 81.

With the start of the school year, the varsity squad will receive a nice respite to recuperate. The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, August 26 against University School.
