The JV Blue squad also won the Strongsville Invitational.

After a tournament on their own turf on Tuesday, the Saint Ignatius varsity golf team took a ride down I-71 for the Medina Invitational at Shale Creek Golf Course.

The Wildcats emerged with a fourth place finish among a stacked 18-team field. The Golf Cats notched a team score of 307, with five of six golfers finishing in the 70s.

The St. Xavier Bombers won the invitational with a team score of 290, two strokes better than the team's tournament-winning finish from yesterday. Saint John's Jesuit scored a 304, while Brunswick eked ahead of the Wildcats with a 306. University School rounded out the top five with a mark of 310.

Michael McCaffrey anchored the blue and gold with a team-best score of 73. The senior has started off the season with three solid performances in a row.

Jake Moraca continued to enjoy a great first week, as well. The junior scored a 79 for the Wildcats. Nick Longano, Andrew Kaye, and Ryan Grabowski also tabbed 79s. Ross Williamson completed the crew with a respectable 82.

The Golf Cats, weather-permitting, will complete the first week of competition this Friday at Tannehauf under the direction of Head Golf Coach Brian Becker '77.

The JV Gold Cats received a respite, but the JV Blue Cats hit the road again, also venturing to Medina.

The men of Tom Bogen won the Strongsville Invitational at Bunker Hill with a team score of 328. That's a very good score for the young team.

Matthew Giberti earned the medal for the Wildcats with an impressive tally of 77. Hazard finished just four strokes behind with an 81 for the blue and gold.

Freshman Ian Shemo performed well on the day, scoring an 84. Andrew Martin and William Doyle each penciled in 86 on their scorecards after great days, and Sean White scored a 95 on the day for the Wildcats.

The JV Blue Cats will now rest and recover before returning to the course for a match with University School next Monday.
