A Wildcat will represent Saint Ignatius High School in the National Lacrosse Classic for the second straight year.

Sophomore Connor Francz has been selected to participate in the 2017 National Lacrosse Classic from July 18-21 in Richmond, Virginia at the River City Sportsplex.

Francz's teammate, Lou Persiani, repped the Wildcats last season at the 2016 Classic.

Francz spent the 2017 season as a defender for the JV Gold Cats, his first year in the blue and gold. The Avon Lake native helped the Lax Cats roll to an unbeaten record of 7-0-1. The lone blemish, a tie at the end of the regular season, occurred against St. Xavier. The 8-8 tie does not take away from a special season that included double-digit wins over University School, Massillon Jackson, and Solon, along with victories over St. Edward, Hudson, and Brother Rice.

"Connor is the type of player that puts his team before himself," Head JV Gold lacrosse coach Chris Wancata '07 said. "He is a selfless player, and is always willing to take on assignments no one else wants to take. Each and every day, Connor challenges himself to become better than the day before, and has learned that small, daily goals pays dividends over the course of a season.

"His willingness to learn new concepts and skills has made him one of the more coachable players I have been around, which, at his young age, will be a major asset in his development in years to come. Our coaches are very excited about the opportunities Connor has in front of him, and cannot wait to see him take on and conquer the challenges presented to him throughout his high school career."

Congrats again to Connor on his selection to the prominent tournament, which will host top high school lacrosse players and NCAA lacrosse coaches from across the country.

Good luck in Richmond, Connor!
