One of the best to lace up the skates for Saint Ignatius hockey continues to win accolades.

Aidan Spellacy '16 helped the Lone Star Brahmas, of the North American Hockey League, capture the Robertson Cup last weekend.

Spellacy enjoyed a great season for the Brahmas in his first year in the NAHL. The forward recorded 4 goals and 11 assists in 54 regular season contests before turning it up a notch in the playoffs, compiling 2 goals and 3 assists in 11 games to help the Brahmas win the cup.

Spellacy is well on his way in the NAHL, the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier II Junior league. The organization has 24 teams in 12 states from across North America, offering student-athletes aged 16-20 to play for free, with the chance for them to earn college scholarship offers.

Spellacy definitely made an impact for the Brahmas after helping the Wildcats win state hockey titles in 2014 and 2016. That's three championships in four years for Spellacy.

"Aidan Spellacy was one of the best captains and players we've ever had at Ignatius," said Head Hockey Coach Pat O'Rourke '90. "He was skillful yet gritty and when he spoke, everyone dropped what they were doing and listened. We are so proud of him and look forward to the day when he is playing Division I hockey.

"It's only a matter of time and he absolutely has the work ethic and desire to get where he wants to go. We are honored to have played a small part in his success."
