On a busy day of racing on Saturday, the Saint Ignatius rowing team tore off gold medal after gold medal at the Laddie Cup hosted by St. Mary's in Orchard Lake, Michigan.

As a result, a trio of Wildcat rowers has received Student-Athlete(s) of the Week honors – Griffin Fox, John Pacholski, and David Turk.

The Wildcat Navy coaching staff nominated the trio after Fox, Pacholski, and Turk raced the 1,500m course at St. Mary's Prep five times together over the weekend.

The three Saint Ignatius juniors accomplished a lot in those three races. The trio combined to help the Wildcats win two gold medals and a bronze medal. Fox, Pacholski, and Turk contributed to victories in the Varsity 8 and Junior 8, along with a third-place finish in the Varsity 4.

Due to the schedule of events, Fox, Pacholski, and Turk raced, changed boats and rowed back up to the start several times without much rest. If anything signifies the toughness and determination of the Wildcat Navy and Saint Ignatius athletics, it is the effort of these three Ignatius men.

"These men rose to the challenge of one of the most taxing days of racing and helped their boats enjoy a successful regatta," said Assistant Coach Connor Walters '09.

Congratulations to Fox, Pacholski and Turk on a special weekend and this award. Best of luck to the trio and to the Wildcat Navy at the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships this weekend.
