The 2017 season continues to get better for the Saint Ignatius track and field squad.

The Wildcats finished second at the Berea Kiwanis Titans Relays on Friday, marking the fifth meet the team has finished second or better.

The meet nearly went the Wildcats' way, too, as Medina eked by the Wildcats by a mere 1.50 points, 77.50 to 76. Even still, the Wildcats enjoyed a great day.

The 4x1600 relay highlighted the Wildcats' performance. Pat Nolan, Andrew Szendrey, Nick Saul, and Liam McGuire combined for a time of 18:08.94, granting the Wildcats first place in the event.

CJ Ambrosio continued his spectacular Saint Ignatius career on Friday. The senior won the 3200 with a time of 9:15.27.

Mike Lehto buoyed the Wildcats' effort in the field events. The senior notched the best individual long jump at the meet (21-01.75), helping the relay team record a third place finish.

Other notable performances including the Wildcats' second-place finish in the 4x100 relay. Anthony Pelligrino, Connor Kennedy, Jack Kennedy, and Phil Zuccaro came together for a time of 43.38. The 4x800 relay team tabbed a third-place time of 7:59.06, beating its seed time by 11 seconds.  Nolan, Szendrey, Saul, and McGuire ran this event for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats will now prep for the upcoming Olympic Challenge event at Saint Ignatius on May 12.
