The Ring Cats have excelled to start the season, and Darian Kinnard has been one of the primary reasons why. 

Accordingly, the junior has been named the Saint Ignatius student-athlete of the week after propelling the Saint Ignatius track and field team to a second-place finish at GlenOak's Second Sole Elite Meet on Saturday.

Also a star offensive lineman for the Football Cats, Kinnard hurled his way to first-place in the shot put with a mark of 56'11.5". His throw set a meet record. 

Kinnard also thrived in the discus. The junior took the gold in the event with a toss of 161'. 

For his efforts, Kinnard was named the Most Valuable Field Athlete of the meet. 

The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, as the track and field team will take part in the Comet Relays at Amherst High School.
