The Saint Ignatius volleyball team is on fire.

The Wildcats have won five straight matches, including a victory over powerhouse Archbishop Hoban last night.

In recognition of his efforts with the successful volleyball squad, James Purcell has been honored as the Student-Athlete of the Week.

The senior has anchored the Wildcats as a middle blocker, helping his team dominate the Saint Ignatius Invitational. The Wildcats defeated Pickerington North, Mount Vernon, and Beavercreek in an action-packed Saturday. 

Purcell excelled over the weekend, and his season stats only begin to reflect his impact on the team. The senior has 14 aces, 51 kills, and a pass rating of 2.38 on the season. 

Purcell and the volleyball squad will receive a well-deserved week of rest before returning to action on April 21, as the Wildcats will host the Brunswick Blue Devils at Sullivan Gym.
