On Saturday, the Saint Ignatius track and field team was back at it again, this time taking part in the Medina Relays.

The squad had another strong meet, finishing in second place only nine points behind Solon, but with many individual first place finishes across the board.

To start, in the 100-meter dash, Phil Zuccaro had a strong performance, taking first with a time of 11.24. Along with taking first individually, Zuccaro also combined to help the Cat’s 4x100 relay squad of Connor Kennedy, Mike Lehto, and Anthony Pelligrino take first in their race as well, winning with a significant .25 second margin of victory.

In another relay, the 4x400, the Wildcats also placed first, this time winning with a time of 3:27.80, with a team made up of Kyle Hall, Matt Leszcz, Anthony Pelligrino, and Phil Zuccaro. And in the final relay for the Cats, the 4x800 meter, with a squad made up of Pat Nolan, Joe Ripepi, Greg Caniglia, and Andrew Szendrey. The quartet proudly took first for the blue and gold.

And last but certainly not least, big man Darian Kinnard put up a huge score of 54-10.25 in shot put to take first in commanding fashion.

Overall, this was a solid outing for the Track Cats, as they showed marks of huge improvement all across the board.

Different names keep popping up on the placement sheet throughout this season so far, which is always a good thing, showing how much depth the Wildcats really possess.

In the meantime, with this solid finish in mind, the Wildcats look to get back to work in hopes of bringing home another state title to West 30th and Lorain.
