The season is off to a great start for the Saint Ignatius tennis team.

The Wildcats stand at 4-1 overall on the season after a 4-1 victory over North Canton Hoover on Monday afternoon.

Led by Head Coach Jon Barker '87, the Wildcats hit the road after school on Monday, traveling to North Canton to face the Vikings at the Hall of Fame Courts. The Wildcats entered the day with a 3-1 mark on the throes of a 4-1 victory over Toledo Saint John's Jesuit, the No. 9 team in the state.

Singles play went well for the blue and gold, as the visitors tabbed two triumphs.

Josh Hsia started singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Andrew Teiner. Fellow senior Andy Siciliano then earned a 3-set victory, dropping the first set (7-6) before storming back with a 6-4 win the second and a 1-0 win in the third. The Vikings then picked up a victory in the final singles contest, as Jacob Wood earned a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Drew Barclay.

The Wildcats rolled in doubles play, grabbing both wins.

Kevin Callanan and Jack McNally finished off their foes in two sets, 6-3, 6-3 to seal the Wildcats' victory. Brian Zhu and Arjun Brahmbhatt then cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over their Viking adversaries.

The rest of the week should be a busy one for the Wildcats, weather permitting. The Tennis Cats will face Copley today at Magnificat High School at 4 p.m. and Medina on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
