Talk about starting where you left off.

After winning a state championship in 2016, the Saint Ignatius track and field team stormed out to a great start to the 2017 outdoor campaign over spring break. The Wildcats won the Strongsville Elite Meet, setting the bar with 121 points, and earned third at the Wildcat Premier at Hilliard Davidson with 113.97 points.

A host of Wildcats claimed first place finishes in Strongsville on March 25. Phil Zuccaro notched a time of 11.3 in the 100m and CJ Ambrosio clocked a 9:22.4 in the 3200m in individual races. In the 4x100 relay, Anthony Pellegrino, Mike Lehto, Connor Kennedy, and Phil Zuccaro.

Darian Kinnard also impressed in the field events for the blue and gold. The junior hurled a 54'7.5" in the shot put and a 154'9" in the discus.

The Wildcats performed impressively at Hilliard Davidson, too, recording some first place finishes against some tough opponents.

CJ Ambrosio, Liam McGuire, Nick Saul, and Colin Caniglia teamed up for a first-place time of 18:38.99 in the 4x1600 relay. Max Pike, Andrew Phillips, Alex Ringfield, and John Wetula topped the field in the 4x110 shuttle hurdles relay, clocking in at 1:03.83.

And not to be outdone in the field, Darian Kinnard, Alex Misencik, and William Corte took the gold in the shot put relay at 134'3.5".

Up next for the track and field team lies a JV meet at home on Thursday and the Medina Relays on the road on Saturday.
