The Alley Cats bowed out in Sectionals after missing the cut by a slim margin, but several Wildcat keglers are still making waves individually.

Senior Nick Frank competed in the OHSAA Division I Boys Bowling District Tournament over the weekend, bowling with the best in Northeast Ohio at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes in Canton.

Unfortunately for Frank, the lanes were unkind and the senior missed the cut for States. Despite the tough break, Frank represented Saint Ignatius well and deserves a heap of praise for an outstanding senior campaign.

Meanwhile, sophomore Vinny Doran qualified for the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Pepsi Youth Challenge, which hosts state tournaments for youth bowlers and distributes thousands of dollars of scholarship money each year.

Doran's 651 series qualifies him for the State Finals, which will take place from May 5-21 at Palace Lanes in Columbus.

Three other Alley Cats – Frank, Devin Venczel, and Alex Gehrlein – also have a shot to qualify for the USBC Pepsi Youth Challenge. The trio will compete at Brookgate Lanes this Sunday for the chance to travel to Columbus.

Congratulations to Frank and Doran on these outstanding accomplishments, and good luck this weekend to Frank, Venczel, and Gehrlein.
