“How long, how long will I slide?”

For the storied class of 2017 we truly do not know how long they will continue to slide. Eight games is the maximum left for the seniors’ final campaign. As we enter playoff season, only one game through the league tournament, it is time for the team to hit its stride.

The 2017 Cleveland Cup Quarterfinal game was against familiar opponent, Lake Catholic. After Cougars’ goaltender Patrick Cristo shut down the Wildcats’ high powered attack for the first five minutes, senior Seth Whitney struck to give the Wildcats a lead they’d never relinquish. Soon thereafter, St. Mark Lion alumnus Steven Neff ripped a shot below a jumping Michael Boehm into the back of the net. The Wildcats held a 2-goal lead after one period. Seniors Benji Rechin and Chris Revnew did their part in adding two goals to put the game away in the second period.

Grayson Gerard led the Wildcats three goal third period off with his high powered slapshot beating Cristo. Billy Baumann and Cullen Frebes would add goals of their own.
