One of Saint Ignatius' brightest two-sport student-athletes has been recognized for his outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the ice.

Matt Wiegandt '17 is the High School Sports Insider "Tri-C Student-Athlete with a Future."

Wiegandt has thrived in his senior season, first starring as a safety on the football team and now as a defenseman on the hockey team.

The senior has helped the Ice Cats charge to a 17-6 record so far this season, while maintaining an impressive 3.8 GPA in the classroom.

"He's got a heart of gold," head coach Patrick O'Rourke '90 said in the piece. "He's an awesome kid."
