McManamon accepts his award from North Coast US Lacrosse President Dave Cerny.

The ascendance of the Saint Ignatius lacrosse program in recent years can largely be attributed to the hard work and dedication of Patrick McManamon '96.

McManamon received the prestigious U.S. Lacrosse Coach of the Year award for his efforts with the Lax Cats last season. McManamon guided the Wildcats to the Ohio High School Lacrosse Association State Championship Game last spring for the first time in program history.

McManamon has since stepped down as head coach to focus on his very successful and rapidly growing business and his young family.

Dave Cerny, President of the Northcoast Chapter of US Lacrosse, presented McManamon with the award on Friday.

"It is a great honor and privilege to win the U.S. Lacrosse award," McManamon said. "This award is for our whole staff and all the hard work and dedication we all put into the season."

McManamon's Lax Cats marched to a 16-3 record last season, recording impressive victories over Hudson, Olentangy Liberty, and other lacrosse powerhouses along the way. Alex Maruna and Crew Cintron were also selected as All-Americans by US Lacrosse.

"Coach McManamon has done an exceptional job as head coach for us," athletic director Rory Fitzpatrick '88 said. "His hard work and dedication to Saint Ignatius led to results on the field, but he also taught our student-athletes how to act like Ignatius men off the field, too. He definitely earned this award."

Congratulations again to McManamon on receiving this well-earned accolade.
