A former Wildcat is headed into the ranks of the Big Ten.

Dale Williams '89 has been hired as the offensive line coach at Purdue University, the school announced on Monday

Williams follows new Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm from Western Kentucky University, where Williams served as line coach and Brohm served as head coach.

A former standout offensive lineman for Saint Ignatius, Williams played a critical role on the 1988 Wildcats team that won the school's first Division I OHSAA State Football Championship.

"Dale was a great captain and leader at Saint Ignatius. He was a hard worker," Saint Ignatius offensive coordinator Nick Restifo said. "I wish Dale and his family all the best."

Williams matriculated to West Virginia after graduating from Saint Ignatius, starting two seasons for the Mountaineers. Williams acquired a bachelor's degree in liberal arts in 1994 and a master's degree in athletic coaching in 1996, both from WVU.

The former Wildcat received his coaching start at West Virginia, later working at North Greenville College, Gardner-Webb, Findlay, and Florida Atlantic. Williams now has over 20 years of coaching experience.

Congratulations to Williams and his family on his new job.
