A special award for an impressive young man and soccer player.

Stephen Milhoan is one of the best soccer players to ever play at Saint Ignatius High School.

It's only fitting that the senior receives one of the highest honors in the nation.

Milhoan has been named the High School Boys Player of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)

The senior midfielder earned the awards by helping to lead the Wildcats to a third consecutive OHSAA Division I state championship, a feat never before achieved by an Ohio boys soccer team.

Milhoan enjoyed another record-breaking year, setting school records for career goals (80) and career points (199), overcoming a mid-season injury in time for the Wildcats' playoff run. The Xavier University commit also tied a single-game record for goals in a game with seven.

More importantly, Milhoan has served as a team leader, exemplifying what it means to be a true student-athlete and Man for Others.

"This is an incredible honor for a remarkable young man," head soccer coach Mike McLaughlin '85 said. "Over the past 4 years Stephen has left an indelible mark on the Saint Ignatius soccer program.  He has scored some incredible goals, he has entertained us with his ability on the ball, but mostly what he did for 4 years was impress us with his work ethic and his desire to be his best each day."

Congratulations to Stephen on an exceptional career, and this well-deserved honor.
