From the Head Coach of the defending State Champion Saint Ignatius Harriers, Dr. Mike Gallagher '71, and posted by Mr. Eddie Dwyer.

Runners and Parents,

The district course at Medina was surprisingly good. The Medina volunteers did a fantastic job overcoming the heavy rains in preparing the course.

The temperature was in the 50's with a strong wind from the north. The Cats settled into the # 3 spot on the line, almost into the woods. They needed a fast start to avoid the bottleneck at the first turn.

At the gun, the team went right to the front, with Andrew Szendrey taking control of the field around the first loop.

C.J. Ambrosio found the conditions to his liking and opened up a 15 sec gap at the 2 mile mark. He cruised to the win in 15:37. Next was Andrew Szendrey who had his best outing to date in 16:15, finishing 5th.

Liam McGuire powered down the homestretch to the cheers of his many Saint Ignatius fans in 16:29 for a 7th place finish. Colin Caniglia followed in 16:41 for 11th place.

Sophomore Andrew Biehl ran yet another PR in 16:53 for 16th place. Colon Kelly and Nick Saul (who overcame an untimely fall) finished in 17:01.2 and 17:01.5. The team secured the district title with 40 pts.

The Cats advance to the Boardman Regional on 10 /29 at 12:30 PM.

Thanks to all the parents, runners and fans who provided raucous support for the runners.

See you at Boardman!

Please let me know if you are interested in bus transportation to Boardman. If we have enough interest, I will get a bus.
