Cleveland, Ohio - Coach Mike McLaughlin's Varsity Soccer Cats will continue their preparation for the all-important OHSAA postseason when they travel to Aurora on Tuesday night to face the Greenmen.

The Junior Varsity A Cats of Coach Jim Brennan will face the Aurora JV program at 5 PM, and the Varsity match is scheduled for 7 PM.

Carrying a 9-0-2 record into this week, the Ohio-best, seven-time State Champion Soccer Cats will take their state and nationally acclaimed skills to the Centennial State of Colorado, as they leave for Denver on Thursday for a Friday night match versus Cherry Creek High School and a Saturday night match versus Regis Jesuit. Both matches are listed for 7 PM on the Saint Ignatius Athletic Website.

Coach Chuck Kyle's Varsity Football Wildcats (5-1) will continue their drive to what would be a 27th OHSAA Division I playoff  appearance when they head for Canton on Friday night to face the Golden Eagles of GlenOak (4-2). The kickoff on Bob Commings Field is 7 PM.

Friday's encounter with the Golden Eagles is a significant one in that both programs are looking to secure one of the eight playoff spots in Division I, Region 1. The corner will preview the matchup with GlenOak on Tuesday night.

Saint Ignatius' Junior Varsity and Freshmen Football Programs will play the JV and Freshmen teams from GlenOak on Saturday at Wasmer Field. The JV kickoff is scheduled for 10 AM, followed by Freshmen game at high noon.

As we reported on the corner Sunday night, Coach Brian Becker's Men of the Links, aka the Saint Ignatius Varsity Golf Team, was slated to begin OHSAA Sectional Play this week at the Sweetbriar Golf Course in Avon Lake. The sectional qualifiers will move on to District Competition, which begins on October 10. Look for updates on the corner as they become available.

Saint Ignatius' Crew Cats, also known as the Wildcats' Navy, will race at host Westerville, along with other top Ohio crews, on Saturday at the Columbus Fall Classic on the Hoover Reservoir.

The Crew Cats are coming off a tremendous performance at the Pittsburgh Regatta this past weekend. See the report from Assistant Coach Connor Walters that was posted on the corner Sunday evening.

And last, but certainly not least, Coach Dr. Mike Gallagher's defending State Champion Harriers will continue gearing up for another November run at state cross country laurels when they take their talent and tough-minded approach into Saturday's Stow Invitational at Silver Springs Park.

The Varsity Race (top 10 runners) is scheduled for 9:30 AM and the JV/Open Race will get underway at 10:40 AM. The Bus leaves school at 7:30 AM on Saturday.

Have a great and safe week and weekend.
