Coach Mike McLaughlin's top-ranked team in the nation by USA Today and Ohio's No. 1 program by the Coaches Association will look to go 5-0 on the season tonight.
The Soccer 'Cats are the two-time defending big-school state champions, own an Ohio-best seven state titles, have won 20 consecutive matches and will enter tonight's matchup with the Cougars on 40-match unbeaten streak (counting a tie).
Lake Catholic, which last season won its first District Championship since 2009, when the Cougars advanced to the Division II state final four, entered this week at 2-1-1. The Cougars are currently ranked second in The News Herald's Top of the Crop.
The New Herald's No. 1 team, Chagrin Falls, defeated Lake Catholic, 3-0, last week.
