Saint Ignatius' varsity hockey team turned back Elyria Catholic, 7-4, on Saturday afternoon in the OHSAA Brooklyn District Tournament.

Coach Pat O'Rourke's Wildcats will take a record of 30-6 into Tuesday night's district semifinal matchup with the Padua Bruins. The puck will drop in the John M. Coyne Recreation Center at 7 p.m.

Saint Ignatius' sophomore center/forward Miles McQuinn came up with a hat trick against the EC Panthers and also lighting the lamp for the defending state champs were standout junior forwards Mike Abood and Liam Geither (three assists), senior assistant captain and forward/defenseman Kevin Joseph and senior defenseman and assistant captain Pete Bobulsky.

McQuinn, the Wildcats' all-time leader for goals in a single season, now has 47 lamp lighters this winter.
