Congratulations go out to Saint Ignatius head varsity hockey coach Pat O'Rourke '90, who was chosen as Coach of the Year in the Red North Division, and to five of his mainstays for being selected to either the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League's All-Red North Division or Red All-League Teams.

Named to the first team on the All-Red North Division squad were 'Cats junior captain and forward Paddy Spellacy, sophomore forward Miles McQuinn and junior defenseman Will Smith. Junior forward Mike Abood was selected to the third team.

Chosen for the Red All-League team were first-team selections Spellacy and McQuinn, and third-team picks Abood and senior goalie Josh Potts.

Spellacy, the Wildcats' all-time leader in goals, assists and points, has 35 goals and 30 assists this season and McQuinn, in his first season with Saint Ignatius' hockey program, has 43 goals (ties the school record set by Paddy last season) and 29 assists.

Mike Abood will enter the OHSAA district tournament with 18 goals and 37 assists.

Coach O'Rourke, who has guided the 'Cats to a 28-6 record and a championship in the rugged Red North Division, will lead his team against Parma on Monday, Feb. 21 in what will be Saint Ignatius' opening game in the annual OHSAA Brooklyn District. The puck will drop in the John M. Coyne Recreation Center at 8 p.m.

*Thanks go out to Saint Ignatius hockey enthusiast Chirs Abood '11, Mike's brother, for providing the all-division and all-league selections. We will see you Monday at The Big House on Memphis Avenue, the tradition-rich home of area high school hockey.
