After defeating its nemesis, Gilmour Academy, on Tuesday morning, the Saint Ignatius varsity hockey team returned to the ice Tuesday night and defeated Sylvania Northview, 5-1, in the third round of the Saint Ignatius Christmas Tournament at Brooklyn's John M. Coyne Recreation Center.

Saint Ignatius also dominated the Sylvania team in last season's state championship game.

The Wildcats (15-3) jumped on Northview from the get-go as Mike Avdey scored unassisted and Liam Geither tallied off an assist from Miles McQuinn.

Geither came up with his second goal of the night off assists from McQuinn and Mike Abood, Colton Riemenschneider fired home a lamp lighter off assists from Paddy Spellacy and Kevin Joseph and Spellacy, the 'Cats' captain, scored his 21st goal of the season off another assist by Joseph.

Senior goalie Josh Potts continued his steady play by stopping 16 of 17 shots.
