NORTH BETHESDA, MARYLAND – A long-distance congratulations goes out to Coach Pat O'Rourke '90 and his Saint Ignatius varsity hockey team, which won its ninth consecutive game this morning by defeating Gilmour Academy, 3-1, in the second round of the Saint Ignatius Christmas Tournament at Brooklyn's John M. Coyne Recreation Center.

The Wildcats (14-3), who had lost their two previous meetings with Gilmour this season, responded with goals from Will Smith, Captain Paddy Spellacy and Miles McQuinn.

Spellacy, who had two goals in Monday's 6-1 triumph over Erie (Pa.) McDowell, now has 20 lamp lighters on the season. McQuinn also tallied versus McDowell and his goal against Gilmour pushed his team-leading number to 23.

Accounting for the three other goals in the McDowell game were Smith, Andrew Steed and Liam Geither.

Again, congratulations to Coach O'Rourke and Co., and stay hot on the ice my friends.
