TIM SHENK WRITES THE CLOSING LINE, OR GIVES THE FINAL KICK, IF YOU WILL, TO THE STORIED 2011 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON.

As we reported on the corner following the 34-13, state-championship game victory over Pickerington Central, Saint Ignatius' outstanding senior kicker Tim Shenk tied the OHSAA state record of field goals in a season with 20.

As Tim's dad, Ed, pointed out, what many of the Wildcats' faithful don't realize is that Tim also set a new OHSAA record for most points kicked in a season - extra points and field goals.

In case you haven't gone out to buy your weekly lottery ticket yet, take this "Eleven in '11" breakdown with you.

The previous record for most points kicked in a season, according to the OHSAA, was 109 by Kevin Kerr of Cincinnati St. Xavier in 1998. Tim wrapped up his remarkable career at Saint Ignatius by totaling 111 points this past season.

What does that all mean?

Well, as Ed Shenk said, No. 11 (Tim's jersey number) finished with 111 points after the the Wildcats' state-best 11th championship-game victory, which took place on Dec. 3, 2011.

In case you need a kicker (no pun intended) for that lotttery ticket, Saint Ignatius' football program is now 11-1 in OHSAA state-championship games.
