We'll be looking for a large and enthusiastic student body section tomorrow (Saturday) night, as Coach Sean O'Toole's varsity basketball team opens a new season against the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy in Sullivan Gymnasium. The varsity tipoff will follow a 6 p.m. junior varsity game.

For a preview on the game and a look at the 2-0 Cubs from Detroit Jesuit, see the corner's story that was posted early Tuesday morning.

The Wildcats' varsity wrestling team will be at St. Vincent-St. Mary tomorrow night to grapple with the Fighting Irish, the swimming and diving teams will be competing in the Viking Invitational at Cleveland State and our strong-armed and persistent "Alley 'Cats" will be matching pins against the bowling team from Central Catholic at Buckeye Lanes.

44 AND MORE: Saint Ignatius' outstanding senior wrestler George DiCamillo, coming off his third consecutive championship at the nationally acclaimed Walsh Jesuit Ironman Tournment, extended his winning streak to 44 matches by defeating Alexander Moore of St. Edward, 2-0, in a 120-pound match on Thursday night.

NEVER TOO EARLY TO TALK ABOUT NEXT SEASON: As we reported on the corner two weeks ago, Saint Ignatius and Youngstown Cardinal Mooney have been in serious discussion about matching up in Week 1 of the 2012 football season.

If the final details can be worked out, it appears the 2011 Division I state champion Wildcats and the 2011 Division III state champion Cardinals will be meeting in the annual opening weekend Charity Game doubleheader at Browns Stadium. As always, we'll keep you posted.

MORE HONORS: Coach Chuck Kyle '69 and his record 11-time state champion Wildcats will be honored at City Hall next week. As yes, right from the heart of the city - Saint Ignatius football!

And the champs will take a New Years bow when they are honored before the January 1 Steelers-Browns home game.
