Saint Ignatius wrestlers have a strong quarterfinal showing at the North Royalton Division I sectional.

Although they trailed Maple Heights, 75-72, in the early team standings, the Saint Ignatius Wildcats wrestling team had some strong quarterfinal performances during Friday evening's OHSAA big-school sectional tournament at North Royalton High School.

Nationally acclaimed 120-pound senior George DiCamillo won his quarterfinal match with a technical fall over Chris Bonner of Valley Forge in 0:48. The victory extended George's incredible winning streak to 64 matches and added to his school record for career wins, which now stands at 142.

Jimmy Ferritto, who is having an outstanding season at 106, won by fall over Catalino Lopez of Rhodes in 1:10 and standout 113-pounder Tommy Zeigler won by fall over Juan Goins of Rhodes in 1:37.

Dan Lynch decisioned Brandon Mabin of Parma, 8-5, at 138 pounds; Ethan Janez won by fall over Byron Tobin of Rhodes in 0:35 at 160 pounds; Nick Lees won by fall over Cameron Mayell of North Royalton in 1:07 at 152 pounds; Anthony McLaughlin decisioned Josh Landon of Bedford, 14-8, at 170 pounds; Scott Chase won by fall over Marquise Copeland of Bedford in 2:34 at 182 pounds and Brett Bendokaitis won by fall over Brandon Meadows of Valley Forge in 0.53 at 195 pounds.

Congratulations to all of the above Saint Ignatius wrestlers for advancing to Saturday's championship semifinals at North Royalton. Consolation matches begin at 11 a.m. The North Royalton sectional feeds into next weekend's Mentor District.
